RCSWD receives Materials Management Infrastructure Grant (MMIG) from DEC

Rutland County Solid Waste District/ Mark S. Shea, District Manager Presents that Rutland County Solid Waste District receives Materials Management Infrastructure Grant (MMIG) On May 10th, 2021, State of Vermont’s Department of Environment Conservation (DEC) graciously awarded the Rutland County Solid Waste District (RCSWD) a maximum MMIG of $50,138 for the purchase of a Box Truck. The Box Truck will be utilized for the 32 annual Household Hazardous Waste pickups throughout the rural areas of the district. In 2021, RCSWD conducted, and will conduct, the following events:

HHW Walk-In Days @ Gleason Transfer Station

Currently the Rutland County Solid Waste District’s Hazardous Waste Depot is open Monday – Saturday from 7:00am to 2:30pm by appointment. Starting July 1st 2021will be expanding its availability! The Depot located at 14 Gleason Road, will be open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30am until 2:00pm without an appointment.

We accept most hazardous waste materials, such as paints, thinners, acids, pesticides, aerosols, batteries, resigns, adhesives, fluorescent bulbs, etc. to all our permit holders. When dropping off material at the Hazardous Waste Depot please think safety first:

Park in a Hazardous Waste parking spot;
Stay in your vehicle until told otherwise by a RCSWD employee;
Bring your 2021 RCSWD Permit with you;
All materials to dispose of must be organized such that it can be placed upon a table in little time;
Bring a form of identification with you; and
Wear a mask when conversing with the RCSWD employee.

It is recommended that customers make an appointment, especially quantities over 1 square foot of material for the Hazardous Waste Depot, this will expedite your drop off experience.

ALL BUSINESSES shall drop off hazardous waste by appointment only. Call 802-775-7209 or visit HHW program to schedule an appointment.

Hazardous Waste Parking signs have been installed, which the RCSWD employees will be utilizing as a queue to control costumer flow. Look for the following signs for Hazardous Waste parking.

Just a reminder, our administrative office and Transfer Station will be close Monday July 5, 2021 in observance of 4th of July! Please plan your trip accordingly to our Transfer Station.
