COMMERCIAL RECYCLING
All facility tours are on hold until further notice. This is to keep attendees and employees safe from concerns of the spreading Covid-19 disease. Thank you for understanding.
Have you ever wondered where all of the recycling ends up? Most of it gets brought to the Rutland MRF (Material Recovery Facility) which is located at 2 Greens Hill Lane in Rutland, Vermont. Haulers bring their recycling to the MRF if they are contracted through Casella. Then we weigh the trucks in and out at the scale next to our office. Since we weigh in their trucks, some people think we are part of Casella. We are the Rutland County Solid Waste District (not Casella), but we just so happen to weigh in Casella’s trucks for them. Sometimes we feel like being nice! Just kidding, we are always nice.
![]() We give tours! See below for information. The MRF is not open to residential recyclers. However, it accepts material from town transfer stations, commercial waste haulers and large commercial generators. Operating hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Interested in learning more about commercial recycling? Then schedule a tour for a group of 10 or more people by contacting Carl Diethelm (carld (at) rcswd.com); (802)-775-7209. Check out this video and follow the orange bottle through the MRF! |
